BatteryPass-Ready provides practical resources for preparing, testing and improving Battery Passport solutions to meet regulatory requirements. Here is an overview of what is available now, and what comes next.
Resources for Implementation
The project’s outputs have been developed through analyses of the EU Battery Regulation, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), and relevant standardisation activities. They have been designed to work together:

TTogether, these resources help stakeholders move from understanding the requirements to testing their implementation in practice:
- BatteryPass-Ready Test Environment
- Data Attribute Longlist v1.3
- Data Model Based on Longlist v1.3
- User Stories from a Technical Perspective
The framework is taking shape
Recent regulatory and technical developments are providing important foundations for implementation.
- The Implementing Act for the Digital Product Passport Registry clarifies key aspects regarding registration and data to be provided for it.
- The European Commission’s published the first version of the Registry which supports testing of the registry infrastructure. The CEN/CENELEC JTC 24 standards have been published as a common technical framework for Digital Product Passports, covering areas such as identifiers, data carriers, data exchange, APIs and interoperability.
BatteryPass-Ready translates these often abstract regulatory descriptions into clear information and processes that help organisations test their own battery passport data, and technical solutions. It will continue to update its resources as legislation, standards and implementation guidance develop further. The next planned activities are:
- End of August 2026: Updated Data Attribute Longlist and Data Model
- October 2026:
- Update of test environment to cover majority of the test cases outlined in the User Stories document
- Publication of Guidance for Implementers and Policy
- Publication of Enterprise Model
